Scott LaFaro was an exceptionally rare bassist in the latter half of the 20th century. As a member of the Bill Evans Trio, he served as an inspirational partner greatly admired by the renowned jazz pianist Bill Evans. Their album "Explorations" was released in March 1961. Four months later, Scott LaFaro tragically died in a car accident. Evans refrained from public performances for nearly a year, utterly heartbroken by LaFaro’s sudden death. He was tormented by guilt, haunted by the thought of how much more they could have achieved during their brief time together. In the following years, Evans collaborated with several outstanding bassists, including Eddie Gomez and Marc Johnson. Yet, the profound spiritual connection he shared with Scott LaFaro—a bond he continually longed to rediscover—left an indelible mark on Bill Evans’s musical career.

This painting immortalizes the sublime moment of their shared performance on stage.
